Outside the Palace, Ariel was wiping away tears from her eyes. She was still upset about her father’s inability to understand her. Flounder was trying his best to comfort her, but it was no use.

“ARIEL, Hey Ariel, wait up!” cried out Littlefoot’s voice.

Ariel and Flounder turn to see the little longneck rushing to catch up. Once Littlefoot
finally caught up to them, he was panting while trying to speak.

“Hey, Ariel….uhh… about- about what happened back there-”

“You mean about my father?” asked Ariel

“Yeah, I’m sorry that we got you in trouble.”

“Oh Littlefoot, It had nothing to do with you.”

“Yeah, Ariel usually gets herself in trouble most of the time, no offence.” said Flounder.

Ariel did smile at Flounder’s remark.

“None taken, it’s just that my father is really stubborn most of the time.”

“That makes two of us.” said a new voice.

Littlefoot, Ariel, and Flounder turn to see Cera with the rest of the gang coming towards them.

“My dad can get as loud as yours,” Cera continued, “Doesn’t your mother say anything about that?”

“By the way, where is your mama?” asked Ducky.

Hearing the two little dinosaurs mentioning about her mother made Ariel tear up again.

“My mother died when I was very young.”

Everyone fell silent, especially Littlefoot; he knew exactly how she felt.

“My mother died too.” Littlefoot said finally, “A sharptooth attacked her, she died protecting me.”

Ariel was surprised on what Littlefoot said; she swam over to Littlefoot and hugged him warmly. This surprised Littlefoot, but it also comforted him.

“You know, you’re lucky that your father’s with you;” said Littlefoot, “mine lives far way, but he and my foster brother, Shorty, visit my home from time to time.”

“So who do you live with?” asked Flounder.

“I live with my grandmother and grandfather.”

“For how long?”

“Hold on Flounder,” said Ariel, interrupting the conversation, “We can continue discussing things on our way to the treasure grotto.”

“Treasure grotto?” asked Ruby

“What that?” asked Petrie.

“Just let me get my bag, and well take you there.”

Back in the Palace, Sebastian was walking down corridor, beating himself up for opening his mouth.

“How do I get myself into these situations?  I should be writing symphonies - not tagging along after some headstrong teenager. “

Suddenly, he sees Ariel, Littlefoot, Flounder, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, Chomper, and Ruby leaving another part of the place. Littlefoot takes a quick look to be sure they’re alone before he and everyone else began sneaking off. Sebastian became curious and decided to follow them.

“Hmm? What are those kids up to?”

Sebastian followed them for a great while, becoming exhausted; swimming for long distances wasn’t Sebastian’s strong suit, especially when he has big claws always weighing him down. Just as he was on the verge of abandoning the chase, he then sees Ariel removing a huge boulder that was blocking a cave entrance. As Ariel, Littlefoot, Flounder, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, Chomper, and Ruby entered the secret cavern, the boulder was rolling back into place. Sebastian hurried towards the cave, only to have his legs caught by the boulder. After a small struggle, Sebastian manages to launch himself right into a hard object; an hour glass. After rubbing a huge bump on his head, Sebastian’s jaw drops in awe upon what he saw next; human treasures that filled up the entire cavern. There were clocks, music boxes, candlesticks, paintings, books, mirrors, nets, and even anchors. Littlefoot was also astonished by Ariel’s collection; he stood at the grotto’s center observing all of the human treasures that surrounded him.

“Wow!”

His thoughts, however, were interrupted by Flounder talking to Ariel.

“Ariel, are you okay?”

“If only I could make him understand,” said the young mermaid, “I just don't see things the way he does.”

“What do you mean?” asked Chomper.

“What I mean is that I don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things - could be bad.”

“Hmmm, that is pretty strange.” said Littlefoot.

After a brief silence, Ariel begins to sing.

Ariel: Look at this stuff
  Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl?
  The girl who has everything?

Ducky: (spoken) I believe it.

Ariel: Look at this trove
  Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
  Looking' around here you'd think
  Sure, she's got everything

Cera:  (spoken) Just think of it

Ariel: I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
  “You want thingamabobs?
  I got twenty”

Chomper: Whoa

Ariel: But who cares?
  No big deal
  I want more

I wanna be where the people are
  I wanna see
  Wanna see 'em dancin'
  Walkin' around on those
“Whad'ya call 'em?”(Littlefoot lifts up his front foot) oh - feet
Flippin' your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'
  Strollin' along down a
  “What's that word again?” street

  Up where they walk
  Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
  Wanderin' free
  Wish I could be
  Part of that world

  What would I give
  If I could live
  Outta these waters?
  What would I pay
  To spend a day
  Warm on the sand?
  Betcha on land
  They understand
Bet they don't reprimand their daughters
  Bright young women
  Sick o' swimmin'
  Ready to stand

And ready to know what the people know
  Ask 'em my questions
  And get some answers
What's a fire and why does it
 “What's the word?” burn?

  When's it my turn?
  Wouldn't I love
Love to explore that shore above?
  Out of the sea…

Filled with emotion, Littlefoot begins to sing as well.

Littlefoot: Well, actually…

Ariel: Wish I could be…

Littlefoot: We use to be…

Both: Part of that world

As the song ended, Littlefoot snuggles up against Ariel as she wrapped her arm around him. The two friends, as well as the rest, look up at the hole at the top of the grotto, imagining what wonders awaits them in the world above the water. Suddenly, the moment was shattered by great crash fallowed by a tremor.

“EARTHSHAKE!” cried out a terrified Littlefoot.

As Spike buried his head in the sand, Flounder darts into a knight’s helmet. Ariel turns to see a familiar red crab covered in her treasures.

“Sebastian!?”

It turns out that Sebastian was running into different objects while Ariel as singing.

“Ariel - what, are you mad?  How could you - what is all this?” Sebastian snapped, while removing the artifacts off his body.

“It, err, it's just my - collection. . . .”

“Oh.  I see.  Your collection.  Hmmm.  IF YOUR FATHER KNEW ABOUT THIS PLACE HE'D-”

“You're not gonna tell him, are you?” Flounder asked.

“If Triton finds out, he’ll have our tails for this!” said Chomper

“Oh, Chomper’s right Sebastian, he would never understand.” said Ariel

Even though Sebastian was upset about Ariel possibly getting herself into more trouble, he calmed down and decided to change the subject

“Ariel.  You're under a lot of pressure down here.  Come with me, I’ll take you home and get you something warm to drink.”

As Sebastian guided Ariel and the others out of the grotto, a huge shadow was casted into the grotto. Ariel and Littlefoot looked up to see a dark shape blocking the light.

“What do you suppose . . .?” Ariel wondered.

“I don’t know,” said Littlefoot, before turning towards the grotto’s entrance, “but I’m going to find out.”

Determinedly, Littlefoot instantly raced out of the grotto and headed upwards.

“I’m going with him.” said Ariel, swimming out of the grotto.

“Ariel? Ariel!”

“Littlefoot, wait!”

Unfortunately, Sebastian and Cera’s cries came too late; Littlefoot and Ariel were already on their way to the surface.
